Introduction — Start Using Your Ledger Device
Ledger hardware wallets provide a secure way to manage cryptocurrencies while keeping private keys offline. This guide covers everything from initial Ledger device setup to adding accounts in Ledger Live and using your Ledger device safely.
Step 1 — Unbox and Inspect Your Ledger Device
Before using your Ledger device, ensure the package is sealed and contains:
- Ledger hardware wallet (Nano S or Nano X)
- USB cable
- Recovery sheet for your 24-word recovery phrase

Never use a Ledger device that shows signs of tampering. If the box appears compromised, contact Ledger support.
Step 2 — Power On and Initialize the Device
- Connect your Ledger device using the supplied USB cable.
- Follow the device prompts to choose a PIN code (ensure it is unique and secure).
- Write down your 24-word recovery phrase on the recovery sheet exactly as shown. This is your only backup in case the device is lost or damaged.

+ Add account
and select the cryptocurrency. - Open the corresponding app on your Ledger device.
- Ledger Live detects the account automatically. Add multiple accounts as needed.

Keeping your device firmware up-to-date ensures compatibility and security:
- Open Ledger Live and navigate to "Manager".
- If an update is available, follow the instructions carefully on both Ledger Live and the device screen.
